Issue Position

Our government works best when our elected officials work together. We have strayed from the fundamental principle that our government should be of people, by the people, and for the people. Our members of Congress should strive to implement ideas and policies that help further all Americans' best interests, not just the interests of big money.

Our Congress must work across party lines to address the problems that all Americans face instead of continually falling back to repetitive party dogma. Elected officials have a responsibility to work together to build our economy, protect our rights, and advance democratic principles.

Members of Congress should not be afraid to break party lines when the issues at stake define what is morally and ethically acceptable. Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and John McCain are a very recent examples of strong members of the Republican Senate standing up and making clear that what Republican Congressional leaders were proposing was flat out indefensible. If we want our government to work for us, members of Congress must work together to find morally and ethically acceptable common ground.
